Sailboat on the water during a yacht inspection

Who We Are

We’re not surveyors. We’re not brokers. We’re Norwegian sailors from 70°N who’ve spent enough time on boats to know exactly what can go wrong, what it costs when it does, and how to avoid it in the first place.

We’re the kind of people who read boat manuals for fun — not because we have to, but because we genuinely enjoy understanding how things work, and how they fail.

Tommy

Tommy has worn more hats than most people keep in their closet.
Helicopter pilot. Licensed sea captain. Welder. Quality manager. Technical problem-solver. And a dedicated yacht nerd with a strange but very useful obsession for the systems that keep boats moving, floating, and not catching fire.

He’s the one who happily disappears into bilges, wiring diagrams, and obscure maintenance forums. If it involves structure, engineering, or anything mechanical, he’s already halfway down the rabbit hole.

Erin

Erin is the visual half of this operation — an artist who paints landscapes and abstracts, a skilled videographer and editor, and the voice you hear in our videos. She brings the things most boat people overlook: beauty, detail, and the little touches that make a yacht feel like a home rather than floating hardware.

She’s also a yacht nerd in her own right. While most people unwind with a book or Netflix, she relaxes by browsing boat listings and analyzing interior layouts as if it’s a form of meditation. For her, it is.

What We Do

We create straightforward, detailed, no-nonsense guides for sailors who want to understand the yachts they’re considering — without spending thousands on travel, bad inspections, or surprises at the yard.

We’re not here to sell boats. We’re here to help buyers avoid expensive mistakes, stay safe, and feel confident. Everything we produce is exactly what we wish someone had handed us when we bought our own boats.

Real sailors. Real experience. Real documentation.
No sales pitch. No sponsorships. No hidden agenda.

Just the truth — presented clearly, with a little bit of humor, and a lot of respect for anyone brave enough to shop for a used yacht.

Buying a bluewater yacht isn’t just a financial decision — it’s a doorway into a different kind of life.
One with more horizon, more challenge, more nature and more stories you’ll remember decades from now.

There’s a quote often attributed to Mark Twain that captures this better than anything we could write:

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do.
So throw off the bowlines.
Sail away from the safe harbor.
Catch the trade winds in your sails.
Explore. Dream. Discover.”

Every great voyage begins long before the first passage.
It starts with the courage to take the next small step — researching, learning, evaluating, and choosing the right boat.

In uncertain times, many people feel the world shifting beneath their feet — and that’s exactly why choosing a life of seamanship and self-reliance matters more than ever.

If this guide plays even a small part in helping you move toward the life you want, then every page has done its job.

Fair winds,
